Side Imaging "Greatest thing since sliced bread"

Well someone finally did it, you thought underwater cameras were cheating, how about a underwater canvas painted onto your fishfinder screen. Imagine getting an exact sonar picture of what is not just underneath the boat, but what is located to the sides. I have a few friends that are FLW pros that ordered the unit from us, and they explained to me how well it works. They are Great Lakes fishermen, and the thing about fishing on the Great Lakes is you need to be right on target with the spots you are fishing. This will put you right on target, and show you exactly what you are missing. No more guessing what the big clump of colors is on the bottom of your fishfinder. This is the real deal with an actual picture.

These Humminbird Fishing Systems are great pre fishing tools for tournament fishermen. They let you cover lots of ground in minimal time. Lowrance Net

One of the great new Innovations in the fish finder world is called the Lowrance Net. It is an internal network that will connect any compatible lowrance fishfinder/gps on the boat. You can also add fuel, fluid, speed, trim tab, and temperature probes that will communicate with the master unit. As far as GPS, you can run all of the gps compatible units off of one sensor. It saves a lot of hassle with mounting of GPS sensor. On the last tournament I fished, Seth who I practiced with had two Lowrance LMS-520C Fish Finders, and a fuel flow sensor connected in his network. He was able to get a digital read out of his fuel consumption. Also when he marked his Waypoints from the front they were instantly on both units. For those of you who use or want to learn how to use GPS with fishing, at an affordable price, this is definately something to look into.

Burt Mullet Lakes BFL Tournament

This was the tournament I was looking forward to the most. Lake Burt and Mullet in Cheboygan Michigan. I practiced with a new friend from Detroit named Seth, and boy what a practice. During Practice you want to try not to hook the fish, just "Shake them off" . This way you won't freak them out for tournament time. On Thursday, I set up on three fish one was 14 in., one was about 2 lbs, and the big dog was 6.1 lbs. That was the biggest smallmouth bass I have ever caught. Unfortunatly I don't have a Pic. I forgot the camera. On Friday I was throwing a Zara Spook and boy did the fish go nuts over that side to side action. I managed a 5lber and several fish over 3lbs to come up and smack it. I went into the tournament with high hopes, especially after the amazing practice I had. Unfortunatly the pressure got to the fish and they turned off big time. I ended up with one smallmouth that weighted 2.5 lbs. At least it got me some points toward the Championship Regional.

Lake Geneva Big Bucks Bass

This past weekend me and my fishing partner Brad, fished a team tournament on Lake Geneva Wisconsin. It was primarily a Spawn tournament, both largemouth and smallmouth were bedded up. In practice on the day before the tournament I found two 5lbers and a smaller male on a bed, all the other fish me and Brad found were smaller. When the big day came and I went to find the fish only the male was there, we caught him and he ended up being our biggest fish he was 3.5 lbs. If only the other two were there we would have gotten a check. Most of my fish were caught on a Gary yamamoto Shad Shaped Worm in smoke color on a Drop Shot rig. For those of you that are new to fishing, a drop shot rig is when the hook is above the weight on the fishing line. It is used as a small finesse technique. I just got a brand new Drop Shot rod from G Loomis is is a Zero Power, which means it is ultra light. It was made for super light line and smaller drop shot weights. The rod is beautiful if you like to chase big fish and play with them for sport. My reel was a Team Diawa Sol. Talk about a super sweet reel, it is smooth with a silky smooth drag system. A smooth drag is key for using light line with big fish. No matter how good you think you are at fighting fish, having good equipment is key when you want to perform better.

Back to the tournament, we ended up with a limit of 6 fish for 19.28 lbs . Unfortunatly that wasn't good enough for a check. My buddy Blair finished in 3rd. We finished in I think 17-18th place. We left early. I can't wait for in a couple weeks I am going to Burt Mullet lakes in northern Michigan. Supposedly, there are huge smallmouth in those lakes. I am fishing as a co angler in the Wal Mart Bass Fishing League Michigan Division. I will let you know how it went after I come back.
